Choopy et Gourmand ont raison, il y a en effet des cameras partout..
Meme dans ma petite ville de 2,500 personnes...presque chaque jour le policier du ville attendre dans le meme lieu pour les insouciants (unwary?) avec son radar.
When he's not doing that, he's usually in the middle of the main street, breathalising most passing drivers for an hour or so before dinner time.
Just a part of small town life - and the locals know not to speed past his hiding place at the top of my street, and to watch for him as they come down the hill.
As for the parking signs, even I find them confusing.
Years ago, it was more simple - a white sign with green clearly saying "2 hour parking" or "1 hour parking" or whatever - but that must have been too long, because then it was changed to "2P" for 2 hour, and "1P" for 1 hour and "1/2P" for 1/2 hour, and so on, which isn't too bad, until there's also writing underneath in small which says between what times this applies, and then often you see another sign under the little white and green one with the red and white, and you find that outside the above times, it's also a loading zone....and that somebody else has got the next park you could have had if you weren't busy reading the times on the first sign
And even in my little city, you know not to be back 5 minutes late to your parking meter, or the inspector will be already there, writing you a ticket.
Good work with the hook turns, Gourmand. I wondered who'd bring that subject up. Pas moi, I've never tried one.
