Primary French Teacher
Title of Position: 0.75 French Teacher
Initially this position is offered as a 12 month contract position with the possibility of ongoing employment. A full time position may be possible if the applicant has a suitable second teaching area.
Type of Appointment: 12 month contract 0.75 position for Term 1 2013.
Supervisor: Head of the Middle School
Location: Gawler River School
Employees are located at a particular site or school of the College but are employed by Trinity College and therefore maybe asked to work at any of the work locations that make up the College.
Description of Role
A teacher registered to teach in South Australia, is sought for the start of Term 1 2013. The teacher would need to be qualified to teach Primary and lower Secondary School French courses.
The teacher would be responsible for the delivery of the designated curricula in French. The primary focus of the teaching would be carried out in Junior and possibly some Middle School classes. The successful applicant would have sound knowledge of primary schooling and the appropriate pedagogy. A knowledge of, or willingness to learnthe AIM gesture methodology of teaching French is required.
Teachers play a vital role in thepastoral care of students within the School. The pastoral care includes, monitoring student behaviour, advising them as required and communicating the progress and needs of students to parents and appropriate staff members. Involvement in school worship sessions, house sport and fund raising activities are but a few examples of the activities of the pastoral care system at TrinityCollege. Seeking advice from otherteachers within the College, such as the student counsellor, and from externalagencies is required from time to time to ensure that the needs of all studentsare being met.
Assessment and reporting of student achievements are an important part of the teacher’s responsibilities. Continuous assessment of bookwork and learning activities is combined with regular testing to evaluate learning. Parents are informed of student progress through written reports, parent interviews and diary notes.
Teachers at Trinity College are also required to carry out yard supervision duties, participate in extra-curricular activities and attend staff meetings outside ofthe normal lesson time of the academic day. Extra-curricular activities offered to students include debating, choir, concert bands, drama productions, Christian clubs, and a variety of sports.
All teachers are expected to support the Christian ethos of the College. It would be hoped that the successful applicant would be able to actively contribute to the Christian life of the College.
The successful applicant will join a vibrant faculty and school team. Collegiate advice will be provided by the Head of the Faculty and supervision will be under the direction of the Principal of the School.
