FRENCH AMBASSADOR TO OPEN ROCOCO EXHIBITION AT ART GALLERY OF NEW SOUTH WALESThe Ambassador of France to Australia, H.E. Mr Patrick Henault will officially open the "Boucher, Watteau and the Origin of the Rococo"
exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales on Wednesday March 9.
The exhibition, curated by Emmanuelle Brugerolles, consists of more than 80 drawings from one of the world’s foremost collections of Old Master drawings, The Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. It celebrates the new style that was taken up by the French aristocracy and royal court and which subsequently spread throughout the royal courts of eighteenth century Europe.
A season of films, lectures and other special events will accompany the exhibition which continues until May 1, 2005. For further information:
